Here is what women have said about the experience of home birth with Gold Country Midwifery:

I got everything I wanted: the home birth, the quiet house without a party of peeps, both big brother and sister were present, scared, excited and almost immediately exhausted, my sweet Joel managed to make a giant lasagna and be the most incredible support ever. I was able to do most of my laboring outside on my patio, in the birthing tub, under the trees with the birds chirping and breeze blowing around me....this was truly a lovely and magical experience. I wish this for everyone having a baby...to be in the comfort of your own home.

Our #homebirth with our last baby was something that we will never forget!
.
Having had two natural hospital births with midwives, I knew this was the natural progression of birth for us when we found out #babynumberthree was on the way. I interviewed two midwives and the choice was clear. We went with Dania Shelton and to this day she is still someone I adore and respect. She taught me what it truly means to listen to my body and to my baby. She didn’t tell me what to do, she didn’t tell me when to push or how. When she saw I was getting discontent in the water (and ready to have a baby) she gently suggested a new spot to labor. It was a spot we would have never imagined our baby would be born but it was THE best spot for his story! The end of our dining room table (which was currently in the living room) right into the hallway! 😂
.
You can see from these pictures how much love was there. How much HAPPY. From the look on my husbands face while he’s encouraging me to those sweet babes faces when they found out that #babycakes was a BOY! And mine too! I felt like a #warriormama squatting that baby out in three good pushes!
.
Then, after we were all cleaned up (showering in your OWN shower after having a baby is so nice) we went to our own bedroom for skin to skin. Then big sissy and bubba came to meet baby. I’ll never forget that moment.
.
Then I drank a green smoothie on my own couch and ate coffee cake that was made by my precious friend, doula and photographer extraordinaire, Katie!

This experience created in me an even greater birth advocate. Women deserve the absolute best care and guidance when it comes to birthing their babies. I’ve seen and heard too much heartache due to other people believing they are in charge of a woman’s pregnancy and labor & delivery. They are not. You are in charge.
.
Feel your power, mama! Whether in the hospital or at home YOU are in charge. You call the shots.
